21 Things to Keep in your Travel Journal

1. Maps

Maps are usually free and a nice tool to have if you are ever without a GPS.

2. Concert Tickets

I love concerts and I always keep all of my concert tickets, so why not put them in your travel journal to look back on?

3. Attraction Tickets

Attraction tickets are great for travel journals because they are not only a reminder of cool places you have visited, but also usually have the name and price of the attraction.

4. Transportation Tickets

Transportation tickets are cool because they are a reminder of (maybe) the first time you were ever on a plane, train, boat etc.

5. Money/Coins

Keeping a coin or small bill from the country you are visiting is an awesome way to compare money from around the word.

6. Sand/Rocks

Sand and rocks are probably the easiest collectables for your journal because they are the most accessible. Look down and you will most likely find one of the two. They are also fantastic because it is a way to literal take a piece of the place you are visiting home with you.

7. Postcards

Post cards are normally very cheap and very popular for travel journals. They usually have a professional photo of one of the most popular attractions in that area, so you can have a beautiful photo without the hassle of taking it and printing it yourself.

8. Stamps

I feel like stamps are often forgotten because no one really mails letters anymore, but they great decorations and are a nice way to represent the country you are visiting.

9. Polaroid Photos

Taking polaroid pictures is very convenient way to capture a memory and immediately put it in your journal. This eliminates the hassle of printing pictures at a photo center.

10. Boarding Pass

Boarding passes are great because they list the time, date, and destination of your trip.

11. Programs

Programs are usually given out for free during shows and will always remind you of the show or event you attended.

12. Pamphlets

Pamphlets can usually be found in your hotel or in the lobby of other attractions in the area. They are great because they provide all the information you need regarding the attraction and can help aid in the making of your itinerary.

13. Business Cards

Business cards are perfect for your journal because they not only serve as free memorabilia of a place you liked, but also provide the name, address, and phone number of that location.

14. Receipts

Receipts are like business cards in the way that they also usually provide the name, address, and phone number of the place you visited.

15. Journal Entries

Journal entries are a given for a travel journal. They are great because they capture your feelings toward your travels at that very moment.

16. Foreign Food Labels

Food label are a reminder of new foods you have tried, and if you liked them, a reminder of the name and company, so you can purchase them at home or on your travels in the future.

17. Stickers

Sticker are a cute way to accessorize your journal and are usually free or very cheap at different attractions.

18. Itineraries

This one is a given. You want to attach your itinerary for your trip so you can remember exactly where you went and the days you went there.

19. Pressed Flowers

I LOVE pressed flower! They are so cute and a way to have nature at your fingertips.

20. Flyers

If someone hands you a flyer on the street, put in your travel journal. Even if you didn’t visit this attraction, it is still a way to remember the trip and can serve as an attraction to visit on future travels to that location.

21. Quotes

Quotes are my favorite because they are super personalized. Maybe you happened to hear something funny on the street, jot it down so you can always remember.
